Low-note connection exercises
The low register provides many ‘indicators’ that tell you if your air is fast, embouchure is relaxed, fingers are precise, etc. This is the most important part of my warm-up every day.
5- and 9- note scale drills
When I was working on Stacy Garrop’s Saxophone Concerto I had to find some ways to quickly speed up my technique. I wanted short exercises with digestible fragments of familiar material. I wrote out these 5- and 9- note scale patterns to challenge myself.

Scales Packet
The more scales and patterns you know, the faster you will be at learning repertoire and sight reading (hot take, I know!). I challenge myself to learn a new scale and/or pattern every semester. This packet includes: Major Scales, Harmonic Minor Scales, Melodic Minor Scales, Major and Harmonic Minor scales in 3rds and 4ths, and Chromatic m2, m3, M3 ,and 4ths.
